done for Wizard Magazine, the 200th issue I think (so someone said on Facebook. It’s been a while!).
(from my FB fan page) “In my original sketch, most of the seats were filled with doctors, including Doctor McCoy (both the Beast and the Star Trek one), Dr. Kildare (Neal Adams first professional gig), Doctor Detroit, Dr. Acula, Doctor Sivana, Doctor Destiny, Doctor Drew Pinsky, etc. etc. When the art was printed, though, it was COVERED in lettering that ate up most of the chairs. When I saw how many would have been lost behind the caption boxes, I asked Wizard to make up a list of which ones were absolute MUST have doctors, and this is what I ended up with. The Doctor Phil was the only non-comics doctor they let through. I never would have had so many empty chairs, had this art been meant to be seen without the letters. In fact, I’m not sure where this image without the lettering came from!”
